DOGS

Please see further down the page for information about dogs at The Roost Retreat.  We do not accept cats or other pets!

OCCUPANCY:  Only the number of persons specified in the reservation confirmation (maximum two guests) may stay in The Roost Retreat.  We are adult-only and regret our accommodation is unsuitable for toddlers and * children under 12 years.  We do allow one baby-in-arms, in a travel cot.

* EXCEPTION – WENSLEYDALE POLAR EXPRESS TRAIN EVENT: Minimum two-nights.  There is only one king-size bed in the accommodation and is only suitable for one parent and one child, over 6 years, travelling together for the event. Your child must not be left in the property unsupervised at any time.

POLAR EXPRESS EVENT CREW: We offer very competitive rates for event crew staff staying for the duration of the event. Staff are required to produce proof of employment from the Event Company, otherwise your booking will not be accepted.

CONTRACTORS/BUSINESS GUESTS:  The Roost Retreat is perfect for solo contractors and business guests looking for convenient and quiet accommodation for a longer period of time. Please contact us directly where we can discuss your individual budget and specific requirements.

ACCESSIBILITY:  We regret we cannot accommodate wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

BOOKING

Information

Reservations can be made securely online, by telephone or by emailing us.  Payment methods are by credit or debit card, via Stripe Payments or BACS transfer by arrangement. Cash is accepted but this must be made on arrival with the full amount of your stay.  

It is always better to book directly with us for the best prices.  Bookings made through Online Travel Agencies cost more, as we have to offset large commissions charged to us. 

DEPOSIT & CANCELLATION

DEPOSIT POLICY

We do not charge a deposit on reservation but please refer to our cancellation policy.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Changes and cancellations to bookings made up to 7 days prior to arrival are without charge. Full cost of the reservation will be taken 7 days before your arrival date. Bookings cancelled within the 7 days before your arrival date are non-refundable. If we are able to resell any cancelled nights in this period, then we will refund you any nights resold or alternatively we can issue an accommodation voucher to use against a future stay.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

Times

Arrival: From 3 pm to 8 pm (15:00 to 20:00)  We like to welcome our guests where we can so we have the opportunity to meet, greet and put faces to names!  Please let us know an estimated time of arrival so we can open the gates for you. If arriving later than 8 pm, please let us know so we can leave the key in the lockbox and give you the combination code.

Departure: Up to 10.00 am.  

SPECIAL

Occasions

If you are looking to celebrate a special occasion or a landmark birthday, we can arrange for flowers and/or local handmade artisan chocolates as a surprise for a loved one.  These can be ordered as a separate option on the Additional Extra section on reservation.  There is no need for you to do anything, just choose the gift(s) you would like to order and we will organise everything for you! If you would rather speak to us about specific requirements, then please call us or drop us an email. 

OTHER

Information

Strictly no parties, Stag or Hen Night bookings.

Smoking and vaping is forbidden anywhere inside The Roost Retreat and kitchenette. Smoking is only permitted outside where there is an ashtray.

Quiet hours between 10.00 pm and 8.00 am. The Roost Retreat is annexed to our own residence and in a residential area, therefore please be considerate of both ourselves and our neighbours. 

No commercial photography or drones.

WE ARE DOG

Friendly

We accept up to two small dogs OR one medium-sized dog (no bigger than Cockerpoo/Field Spaniel size). We regret we cannot accept large dogs. It is not that we dislike them but there is insufficient space to comfortably and safely accommodate them.  Dogs must be well-behaved, fully house-trained and over six months old.

There is a fully enclosed garden for your dog to exercise and have a run around. We also provide a dog basket (or you are welcome to bring your own), towels, snuggle blankets, water bowl and some little treats on arrival! 

*Dog Fee: £30 per stay (up to seven nights), £50 per stay (seven or more nights), whether one or two dogs.  Please ensure that we are informed that you are bringing a dog(s) and that the relevant surcharge is added to your booking. We reserve the right to charge this fee if not added to your reservation.
