The Roost Retreat

The Roost Retreat is a comfortable, quiet and rustic holiday hideaway located in Leeming Bar, on the Gateway to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.  Our characteristic little retreat is a wonderful eco conversion of a former Orangery and was beautifully restored, retaining the original beams into cosy and unique self-catering accommodation. The Roost also benefits from its own separate kitchenette and a private outside patio area with chairs, table, barbeque and fire pit, exclusive to guests. We have ample off-road private, level and secure parking, a large enclosed front garden and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Sleeping up to two guests, we are the perfect holiday bolthole for couples, solo travellers, business guests and contractors working in the area.  Dog friendly (up to two small dogs or one medium dog) and motorcyclists, cyclists, walkers are also very welcome. We are less than a minute walk for the Wensleydale Polar Express held in November and December and ideal for event crew staff who are looking for conveniently placed accommodation whilst working at the event.

A wonderful and comfortable overnight stay at The Roost. The owners have thought of every little detail, so if you’ve forgotten something, it doesn’t matter. You’ll find it there or could ask for it. There are lots of lovely little touches, including a selection of hot drinks for you to try, including marshmallows for your hot chocolate. The owners who live next door manage to be available for any potential issues/questions whilst at the same time giving you plenty of privacy. There is a handy shop next door and a space for you to prepare and eat simple meals. The bed is comfortable, the shower is powerful, and you really couldn’t ask for anything more. I would wholly recommend The Roost to anyone planning a visit to this area.

We had a lovely time at The Roost Retreat, the hosts were really welcoming and friendly even let us park our car there earlier than the check-in time as we were going on the Wensleydale railway.  Lots of unexpected added touches, homemade cake, milk, tea, coffee, etc. Can’t wait to return… hopefully very soon.

Amazing little place right off the A1. Perfect for us two and our dog – a million times better than a roadside hotel for breaking a long drive to Scotland.  It is cosy, comfortable and beautifully furnished.  Everything has been thought of. 1 min walk from shop, pub, cafe etc.  All you have to do is arrive and relax.

My Mum & I stayed at The Roost beginning of February.  We found our stay very enjoyable and comfortable.  Anything we would have needed was available and our hosts were very welcoming and helpful.  Would recommend to anyone wanting a night or 2 close to The Dales and lots of other local attractions.

We have stayed several times before with the previous owners. The Roost Retreat is ideally positioned for our visits to the dales, with it’s own private off road parking. The new owners Simon and Claire have kept up the very high standards. With lots of thoughtful little extras which were very welcome. Simon and Claire are very friendly, the perfect hosts.
